Jean Tehle receives honorary lifetime membership

Jean Tehle was presented with honorary lifetime membership in the Timber Lake & Area Historical Society at the society’s annual meeting on Sunday, October 15. The award is reserved for members who have made significant contributions to the objectives of the society.

Four Bands to sunset VITA tax preparation program

Almost 20 years ago, Four Bands Community Fund became a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site and began helping Cheyenne River community members file their tax returns free of charge. Four Bands announced this week that it will no longer be able to provide tax preparation services.

Goins relatives

Judy Harlow of Mobridge (LEFT) and Barb Pierce of Rapid City (MIDDLE) met on Facebook but had never met in person until recently. The two descendants of the Goins family of Firesteel decided to meet for lunch in Timber Lake on September 30.
