Election for Isabel set for April 11

A three-way race for two seats on the Isabel Town Board is set for an election to be held on Tuesday, April 11. Candidates for the two three-year terms are Clint Doan and incumbents Ryan Maher and Daniel Gifford. Voters must be registered by March 27 to be eligible to vote on April 11.

SDPB to visit Timber Lake on April 25

South Dakota Public Broadcasting (SDPB) is featuring Timber Lake in their Dakota Life television series. SDPB will come to the Timber Lake Museum on Tuesday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. to connect with community members and discuss the upcoming episode feature.

SHERIFF’S REPORT

Corson County Sheriff Alan Dale February 20 12:59 p.m. conducted a traffic stop on Highway 20 in Trail City. Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy smelled the odor of burnt marijuana. A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Area students earn basic law enforcement training certificates

Three area students are among 31 who graduated Friday, Feb. 24, from the Basic Law Enforcement Certification Course, completing a 13-week training program and becoming fully qualified law enforcement officers in the state of South Dakota.

U.S. DISTRICT COURT

January 23, 2023 Taten Joseph Ducheneaux, 34, of Eagle Butte was indicted for assault resulting in serious bodily injury in January of 2023. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on January 20, 2023, and pleaded not guilty.
