Over the past two weeks, we have seen many bills that deal with election laws and how auditors and election machines operate. There were some good ideas to strengthen the integrity of elections but also some that would have placed unnecessary burden on our county auditors.

School opt-out is not new taxes, goes back to ‘03

Kathy Nelson, publisher/editor of the Timber Lake Topic/Isabel Dakotan, announces the sale of the newspaper to Jon Flatland, who has been staff writer and sales manager for the Topic since the fall of 2019. As of Wednesday, March 1, Flatland became the sole owner of TLI Publishing Inc.

Timber Lake teachers make pre-negotiation pitch to board

In what has now become a custom, the Timber Lake Education Association (TLEA) made a brief presentation to the school board last Wednesday, Feb. 15, prior to engaging in contract negotiations for the 2023-24 school year. Contract talks are slated to begin in March.
