It is wonderful to see the area so green. This along with the lilacs and tree blossoms, have added to the beauty of our area. Bianca Ochsner from Aberdeen is back in Trail City visiting her grandma, Esther Hahne. Bill and Laurie Bickel finished branding the last of their cows on Friday.

ZCHS planning June 25-26 events

The Ziebach County Historical Society is planning three events for the Dupree Pioneer Days Celebration on June 25 and 26. The ZCHS will be holding the 19th Annual Silent Auction on Saturday, June 25. The auction is one day only and is set to begin at 9 a.m. and close at 4 p.m.

A year ago, the South Dakota Legislature prohibited middle name changes at the time of marriage, taking away a popular choice for brides who wanted to share their husband’s last name but keep their maiden name as a middle name.

On the Dewey County Democratic ballot in Tuesday’s primary election, Jeff Ward received 200 votes, Chuck LeCompte 190, and Tim Peet 26 in the contest for the Democratic nomination for Dewey County Sheriff.

Leiers to seek license to grow medical marijuana on Isabel property

A pair of brothers with a connection to a former resident told the Isabel Town Board on Monday, June 6, that they intend to apply for a medical marijuana cultivation license with hopes of opening a growing facility in Isabel.

Commissioners decide to advertise part-time 4-H position

The Dewey County Commissioners decided at their June 2 meeting to advertise for a part-time 4-H Youth Program Assistant. The decision came after hearing input from several people in person and by letters and discussion with Hilary Risner, who supervises the 4-H program in seven West River counties.

Other business on commission agenda: Deputy sheriff, election workers, holiday

At the June 2 meeting of the Dewey County Commission, Auditor Mary Ducheneaux addressed some election issues. She said it is getting harder to find precinct workers and although she had the positions filled for the June 7 primary election, some changes might be considered for future elections.
