A Sustainable Ag Tour will be held on June 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. MT at the Candice and Bob Mizera farm located at 25796 113th St., McLaughlin. Diverse croplands, cover crops and grassland management are among the topics to be discussed at the Mizera ranch.

Area law enforcement officers gathered on May 25 to bid farewell to outgoing Dewey County Sheriff Dan Assman.

SHERIFF’S REPORT

On 5/23/2022 at 11:59 am, the Corson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of cattle out on Highway 12, three miles east of McLaughlin. On 5/23/2022 at 6:27 pm, the Corson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence northeast of McLaughlin for a report of fraud.

May 24, 2022 Kimo John Little Bird, Sr., 40, of Little Eagle, convicted of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, felony sex offense against a minor while required to register as a sex offender, and tampering with a witness, was sentenced on May 23, 2022, by U.S. District Court Judge Charles B.

SBA loans available for area small businesses impacted by drought

Small, non-farm businesses in Dewey, Ziebach and Corson counties are now eligible to apply for lowinterest federal disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture issued a drought disaster declaration May 13, triggering the SBA loan eligibility.

Logan Widvey, daughter of Blaine and Deedra Gesinger of Pierre, graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks on May 14, 2022 with a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. Logan will begin her career as an Outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapist at Avera in Pierre.
