Prayers for rain — then 15 inches at Trail City in summer of 1988

On Sunday evening, April 3, about 50 people gathered at the Timber Lake Community Center to offer prayers for rain. The gathering brought to mind a time more than 30 years ago when prayers for rain were answered. The following story from the July 7, 1988 issue of the Topic tells the details.

Pederson, Farlee lead Dupree tracksters at Douglas Early Bird

Jessup Pederson and Cassidy Farlee led the Dupree Tigers at the Douglas Early Bird Track Invitational held Saturday, April 2, with a field of 21 teams. Pederson posted top 20 finishes in three different events, earning 14th in the 100 meter run with a time of 12.

American Legion Post 120 is moving forward with adding names to its Veterans Memorial at Hillview Cemetery west of Isabel after members approved a plan that will reduce project costs while completely redesigning the memorial itself.
