The South Dakota telemarketing law aims to protect consumers from deceptive telephone sales tactics and telemarketing fraud. The law also prohibits fraudulent practices, by requiring solicitors to tell the truth and to give the consumer full terms and conditions of the deal.

Petitions for positions on the Timber Lake and Isabel city boards are due Friday, February 25 at 5 p.m. There are two vacancies on the Isabel Town Board (both for 3-year terms).

Jeff Ward of Timber Lake, a Democrat, has filed a petition to run for Dewey County Sheriff. Dan Assman, the Republican incumbent, had previously filed. Ryan Maher of Isabel, a Republican, has filed for precinct committeeman.

School employees present their case for pay increase

Contract negotiations between the Timber Lake School Board and Timber Lake Education Association (TLEA) are tentatively set to begin in late March while both sides wait to see what the state legislature will include in its budget for school districts.

Musicians rated at regional contest

Timber Lake High School Musicians participated in the 2022 Region 6 music contest held in Mobridge on February 9. There are five rating levels at regional contest based on a rubric (Superior, Above Average, Average/ Good, Below Average, Unacceptable).
