New rates and charges for services were adopted by the Timber Lake City Board at a year-end meeting on December 21. The new rates became effective January 1. The monthly water access fee was raised from $6.00 to $20.00.

A new year means another year of sobriety checkpoints in South Dakota to discourage people from drinking and then driving.
Live images from Timber Lake are now available on the new Mesonet live cam, which records data and images from the Timber Lake City Airport 24-7. Similar Mesonet stations are at 40 locations throughout the state, including Eagle Butte, McIntosh, McLaughlin, Lemmon, Bison, Gettysburg, Union Center and Bowdle.

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers last week urged the U.S. Supreme Court to reject an appeal by Texas-based Energy Transfer Partners asking that a key environmental permit for the controversial Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) be restored.
