Christmas Day and New Year’s Day will be holidays for most local government offices and businesses. Some will be closed at other times as well. Post offices will be closed on only on Saturday, Dec. 25 and Saturday, January 1. The USDA offices will be closed December 24 and 31.

Future Generations riders, enroute to Wounded Knee, on the Pine Ridge Reservation, camped two nights at Timber Lake. About 20 people rode from Sitting Bull’s Camp to Timber Lake on December 15, to Dorothy Opp’s Ranch on December 16 and to Green Grass on December 17.

Hay hauling hours extended

Gov. Kristi Noem has signed an executive order extending the time frame during which hay haulers may move hay through February 2022. Under the order, hay haulers may move hay from two hours before sunrise to two hours after sunset.
