Checkpoints for December announced

Sixteen sobriety checkpoints in 12 counties are planned statewide during December, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. The checkpoints are designed to discourage people from drinking and then driving.

Timber Lake Firemen serve up pancakes, prizes

The Timber Lake Volunteer Fire Department gathered a good crowd for their traditional night-before-Thanksgiving pancake supper on November 24.

Three Panthers on first team All-LMC

Three starters from the Lady Panther volleyball team garnered First Team All-Little Moreau Conference honors, capping a season highlighted by Timber Lake going on a 16-match win streak and finishing 22-5 overall after winning the LMC Tournament and advancing to the SoDak 16.

Tucker Kraft earns All-MVFC honors

Fifteen South Dakota State University (SDSU) players, led by three-time first-team selection Pierre Strong Jr., were named to the All-Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) Team. Among the selections is Timber Lake native Tucker Kraft, who starts at tight end for the Jackrabbits.

McLaughlin, C-EB players earn honors

Two players from both Cheyenne-Eagle Butte and McLaughlin have been named to the All-Nations Football Conference’s All-State team for the 2021 season.

Dupree Fire Dept. receives grant to acquire new truck

The Dupree Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) as part of its investment of $222 million to build and improve critical community facilities. The $33,600 grant will be used to purchase an F-350 cab and chassis with grill guard.
