Last week on Friday, Judy Hintz went to White Lake with her granddaughter, Tobi Hintz. While they were there, they visited Josh and Kaitlin Konchne and also attended Millie Jo’s first birthday party. Lyle Hahne accompanied and drove Esther Hahne to Bismarck for her doctor appointment.

Lucille turns 92

On September 18 Lee Schnabel of Houston, TX held a birthday party for his mother, Lucille Schnabel, in honor of her 92nd birthday. The birthday celebration was attended by many of Lucy’s friends and there were gifts, games and more food than everyone could eat.

4-H youth exhibit skills at Lemmon Junior Livestock Show

Dewey and Corson 4-H youth took part in the Lemmon Junior Livestock Show on September 11, along with other 4-Hers from Perkins and Butte counties, SD and Adams, Grant, Bowman, Morton and Hettinger counties, ND. Five Dewey County participants showed nine pigs in the market and breeding classes.

At the South Dakota Stockgrowers 130th Annual Convention held Sept. 9-11 in Spearfish, retiring brand inspector Jim Holloway of Faith was honored for more than 50 years of service. He received a commemorative buckle and a standing ovation Sen.

When Timber Lake School and Northwest Area Schools hold the annual pre-school screening each year, teachers and parents learn what skills those youngsters have. Do they know colors? Do they know circles from squares? Do they know what number is between 17 and 19?

Correction

In the Sept. 23 issue of the Topic, Mandy Locken of Isabel was incorrectly identified as a veteran of the U.S. Army when she is actually a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Retakes of student pictures at Timber Lake School had been scheduled for Sept. 30 but will be October 5 instead.
