Gather your friends and family for a virtual book celebration—authors will be coming to you online this fall. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the 2021 South Dakota Festival of Books is switching from an in-person format to an all-virtual format.

Hometown Furniture finds new options for service to customers

A decade ago, Dennis and Elaine Neigel were at an exciting, but uncertain point. Starting a business of their own was something the couple had always thought about doing. When Elaine noticed several furniture delivery trucks coming into town every day, it sparked an idea.

COVID vaccines offered Oct. 14 and Nov. 11 at Mobridge Clinic

Mobridge Regional Hospital & Clinics is offering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for all individuals 18 and older on the following dates: • Thursday, October 14 @ Mobridge Medical Clinic from 1:00-4:00 p.m. CT. • Thursday, November 11 @ Mobridge Medical Clinic from 1:00-4:00 p.m. CT.

Life-saving donations

Fourteen donors gave 17 units of blood at the Timber Lake Community Blood Drive on September 22. Among them were Tyrone Kraft (ABOVE), Tim Gunderson (BELOW) and Hunter Smith (BOTTOM).

Ziebach County Historical Society is opening Historical and Visitor’s Center

After years of dreaming, planning and fundraising, the Ziebach County Historical Society is pleased to announce the opening of their Historical and Visitor’s Center. The center is located in the historic 1913 Catholic Church on the corner of Main Street and Highway 212 in Dupree.

SDDOT begins crack sealing on four routes in northwest area

The South Dakota Dept. of Transportation (SDDOT) this week began asphalt crack sealing on four routes within the region, beginning on S.D. Highway 168 with work on U.S. Highways 85 and 12 and S.D. Highway 73 to follow.

Dupree blood drive a success

The blood drive held in Dupree on Monday, September 20 brought 19 people to donate. Emily Olson, a Dupree high school student, was a first time donor. She is 16 and had parental permission to donate. Three people were deferred but a total of 19 units of life-saving blood was procured.

Isabel Dakotan September 14, 1961 Isabel men in movie Dale Rowley and Leo Meginness have been spending some time in the Black Hills. The men have been employed by a company filming the movie “How the West Was Won.” Clarence (Babe) Hill also participated in the movie.
