Lakota Cultural Center seeks interviews on history, culture

The Lakota Cultural Center at Eagle Butte is looking for people to share their knowledge and experiences about Lakota history, language and culture in recorded interviews. The one-to-two hour interviews will be developed into educational videos.The interviews will begin in February.

The 2025 Dewey County Courthouse Christmas Tree Contest raised $645 for the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 83 of Timber Lake. The contest winner was the hunting-themed tree decorated by the Equalization Office. The money was raised by cash donations for the 14 trees.

Dupree boys scoring attack too much for Jones County to handle

Four different Dupree players scored in double figures last Tuesday, Jan. 6, as the Tigers cruised past Jones County 78-50 by getting an early jump on the Greyhounds and outscoring them 37-24 in the first half.Dupree will travel to Lemmon on Thursday, Jan.15, and heads to Gettysburg on Tuesday, Jan.

Walworth Co. Sheriff warns area residents of telephone scam

Walworth County Sheriff Josh Boll has issued a statement warning area residents of a telephone scam currently operating in the region. His warning follows similar actions taken by law enforcement officials in several South Dakota counties.
