Marshall, Holzer going to Boys State

Chase Marshall and Sawyer Holzer, juniors at Timber Lake High School, have been chosen to represent TLHS at South Dakota American Legion Boys State May 31-June 4 in Aberdeen. They are sponsored by the Gene Gelino American Legion Post 83 of Timber Lake.

Ethan Johnston (CENTER), a member of the Timber Lake High School Class of 2021, has selected Black Hills State University in Spearfish as the institute in which to pursue a degree in secondary English education.

Scholarship awards continue rolling in for Timber Lake Class of ‘21

Ten Timber Lake seniors have already been awarded over $125,000 in scholarships for post-secondary education, and TLHS Counselor Shanna Martin reports that others are pending.

Topic receives 17 awards in Better Newspapers Contest

The Timber Lake Topic won 17 awards at the South Dakota Newspaper Association’s annual “Better Newspapers” Contest. The Topic brought home three first place awards in their category of weekly newspapers with circulation over 1,300 along with 7 second place wins and 7 third place finishes.

Musicians recognized for performance, dedication

Timber Lake music instructor Julie Barnica presented the following students with end-of-year awards: Middle School Middle School Band Excellence Award: Molly Miller, Landon Lemburg, Arianna Bieber. Middle School Band Good Attitude Award: Hailey Roggow, Ethan Ward.

Timber Lake seniors receive Career Readiness Certificates

The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) assesses how well students can apply knowledge to work place environments. The TLHS seniors took assessments in applied math, graphic literacy, and workplace documents. Each student receives three scores, one for each test.

Johnston named DAR Good Citizen

The Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest encourages and rewards the qualities of good citizenship. It honors a senior who most exemplifies leadership, patriotism, service, and dependability in their home, school, and community.
