McIntosh fourth grader wins SD Archeology & Historic Preservation Month essay contest

May is Archeology & Historic Preservation Month in South Dakota and an essay by McIntosh School student Marlee Hayes has been selected as the first place winner in a statewide State Historical Society contest for fourth grade students.

“Bullhead Powwow Grounds”

The place that means the most to me is the Bullhead Powwow Grounds. The powwow grounds are located in Bullhead, South Dakota, which is on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, and is home to about 370 people. The buildings, walls, and bleachers at the powwow grounds are painted white.

Tate B. Maher arrives April 20

Tate Bruce Maher joined his sisters, Rose and Elsie, on April 20, 2021. He is the son of John and Erica Maher of Timber Lake. Tate weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz. and was 18.5 inches long. His proud grandparents are Bruce and Hooley Maher of Timber Lake and Steve and Mary Schilder of Faulkton.

Hemp group to host online event on May 13

The South Dakota Industrial Hemp Association is planning an informational seminar for May 13, starting at 7:00 p.m. CT (6:00 MT). ‘Hemp 101’ will feature Derrick Dohmann of Horizon Hemp Seeds in Willow Lake, who will answer questions during the 90-minute seminar.

Timber Lake Elementary Spring Concert

Liam Handeland and Crawford Maher were excited for their part of the performance with their pre-K classmates. Pre-K singers Rose Maher, Sophie Ley and Myah Peterson sing for the crowd. Lexi Locken, Nikalai High Elk and Kaydence Ouzts perform with the fifth grade band.
