Law for teen drivers changing July 1

A new state law that changes some requirements for South Dakota teen-age driving licenses and operator permits takes effect July 1. The 2020 Legislature approved the measure which covers drivers between the ages of 14 and 18. Implementation of the new law was suspended through June 30, 2021.

Timber Lake Tribune May 18, 1911 Timber Lake’s first anniversary August 15 is considered the birthday of the town of Timber Lake, this being the date of the sale of lots. It has been suggested that the occasion be fittingly celebrated on the first anniversary of the town that grows.

Bill and Marchell Phillips played in a pool tournament in Watertown on Friday. They also visited Marchell's sister, Connie Kenyon and her family in Hawley, Minnesota. Daniel Weston and his puppy Britt from Carver, Minnesota were at Chuck and Marsha Aberle's house over the weekend.

The Sacred Heart Parish of Dupree held their monthly 200 Club Drawings Sunday, April 18, 2021 following Holy Mass and Brunch at the church hall. Winners of $50 were the All Saints Knights of Columbus Council of Eagle Butte, and David Pesicka of Dupree.

HS rodeo season kicks off this weekend

The 2021 South Dakota High School rodeo season gets underway this weekend with the New Underwood Rodeo slated Friday through Sunday, April 23-25, at the James Kjerstad Event Center in Rapid City.

Prom grand march to be livestreamed

The Timber Lake High School prom will be Saturday, April 24 in the old gym. Attendance at the grand march is open to the public, and the Topic will livestream it starting at 8 p.m. MT. Watch the event live or afterwards at the Topic’s Facebook page.

Math Meet

Timber Lake School will send students from grades 4, 5, 6, and 7 to the Math Meet at Lemmon on April 23. They will compete in basic arithmetic, measurement, word problems, odds & ends & a team test.
