My first week of session was cut due to contracting the Covid 19 virus. All is well; however, fatigue is a remaining factor. I hit the floor running once I was cleared to return to Pierre.

Only 12 farmer-rancher lawmakers serving in S.D. Legislature

From the S.D. Farmers Union Twelve. Of the 105 citizen legislators serving in South Dakota’s House and Senate, only 12 earn their income from production agriculture. What does this mean to the many family farmers and ranchers who work in South Dakota’s No. 1 industry?

Petitions

Daryl Pfaff has taken out a petition for the only vacancy on the Isabel Town Board. He is the incumbent. As of Tuesday, no one had taken out a petition for either of the two spots open on the Timber Lake City Board, which has two seats open this year.

COVID-19 numbers down

February 1: 14 active cases February 5: 11 active cases February 10: 8 active cases Those are the numbers of active cases of COVID-19 on the Cheyenne River Reservation. As of Tuesday, Dewey and Ziebach were two of ten counties in South Dakota with fewer than 10 active cases of the virus.

Fire department receives gift

The Isabel Fire Department has received a donation of firefighting equipment from the Huron Fire Department, which recently upgraded their SCBA (air packs). They chose to donate some of their older SCBA to the Isabel Fire Department.

Criminal case summary for 2020

The following summary shows the number of criminal cases handled in Dewey, Ziebach and Corson counties of the Fourth Judicial Circuit during 2020. Felony cases are handled by the circuit judges, who rotate among the counties on a quarterly basis.

Benefit raises $37,430 to help with Lemmon Windy Fire

The Mobridge Livestock Market used its sale on Thursday, Jan. 28, to raise funds to assist those affected by the Windy Fire near Lemmon in January. The blaze burned nearly 20,000 acres of land, hay supplies and more.
