The 2019-20 winter wheat crop was, in general terms, excellent for many producers this year. Multiple factors align during the growing season to result in good yield and quality in winter wheat. Good soil moisture at the outset, a mild winter, low disease pressure, management strategy, etc.

Less than a month before he was to be installed as the Bishop of the Duluth, MN diocese, Bishop-elect Michel Mulloy of Rapid City has resigned over sexual abuse allegations dating back to the early 1980’s.

New Post Office

The Lantry Post Office recently completed its move to a new location on the south side of Highway 212. According to Postmaster Relief MaryLou Griffith, the new location is in a building owned by Keith Farlee on a site once occupied by the old Lantry schoolhouse.

Passing the Torch

When I was younger my parents would let me stay up late to watch “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson. I will never forget when it was announced that he would be leaving the show and Jay Leno would be the new host. I was shocked and upset.

Sept. sobriety checkpoints

South Dakota’s Department of Public Safety will conduct 19 sobriety checkpoints in 15 counties during September. Checkpoints are done each month in different counties as a way to discourage drivers from drinking and then driving.

CDC recommends cloth masks

The Centers for Disease Control recommends that you wear masks in public settings around people who don’t live in your household and when you can’t stay 6 feet away from others. Masks help stop the spread of COVID-19 to others.
