Some South Dakota counties getting younger

Number of Dewey, Ziebach and Corson County residents under age 19 well above state averageCollege towns and high birth rates have increased the average number of young people in some South Dakota counties, even as 17.3 percent of the state’s residents are 65 or older, according to U.S Census data.

Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Chairman Ryman LeBeau cut the ribbon officially opening the Marcella LeBeau Elementary School in Sioux Falls, SD last week as members of the LeBeau family look on.
