White Horse today If Chief Martin White Horse could look down from his burial place atop a hill this is the view of the White Horse community he would see today. White Horse died in 1915, leaving a winter count that was passed down in his family for many years. His oral history was told to Florence Thwing with Harvey Left Handed Bear as interpreter in 1910.

Chief White Horse’s Winter Count is foundation of new museum exhibit
The grand opening of the new White Horse Winter Count exhibit at the Timber Lake and Area Museum will be held Sunday, June 25. The museum, located at 802 Main Street in Timber Lake, will open at noon MT and a program will begin at 2:00 MT. The public is invited.
