Jorge “Ozie” Hawk, 42, of Eagle Butte entered the spirit world Friday, October 6, 2023, near Ridgeview as the result of an automobile accident.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 16, 2023, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in White Horse. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg was in charge of arrangements.
Jorge Jose “Ozie” Hawk Sr. was born September 18, 1981, in Chicago, IL to Edwina C. Scares The Hawk and Angel L. Gomez Sr.
Ozie grew up in Chicago until the age of 17 when he moved to South Dakota. Ozie loved to break dance at battles or even on the block. He also started drawing graffiti as a teenager. He left his trademark all over Chicago with his name Ynot, Ears are menace. He left it on buildings, trains and anywhere he could spray paint. His crew’s name was CGT.
Ozie had nicknames for everyone around him, especially his children, nieces, and nephews, that they will cherish forever.
If you knew Ozie, you knew he was his children’s, nieces’ and nephews’ #1 supporter, and also Tiospaye Topa’s #1 fan. He would travel to almost every game possible.
Ozie met the love of his life, Kelsie Hawk, in 2011, and they married in 2018.
Ozie leaves behind his memories and his wise words, including the words he would frequently say, “Trust the Process.”
He is survived by his loving wife, Kelsie Hawk; children: Jorge Hawk Jr., Carmelo Hawk, Shawnda White Eagle, Eli Trudell, Keearah Hawk, Angel Hawk, Juanito Hawk, Khole Hawk, JaRose Hawk, Alani Hawk, Briley Jo, Isabella Black Bird; stepfather, Orlando Morales (Swiftbird); aunt, Lynn (Victor) Hawk; siblings: Angel (Alejandra) Gomez, Natasha (Glen) Trudell, and Emmanuel Gomez; nieces and nephews: Fabian, Antonio, Anjolicque, Shane, Julian, Jaheida, Scarlet, Jay’den, Julius, and Baby O; and grandson, Alden Trudell.
Ozie is laid to rest next to his mother, Edwina; father, Angel; Titi Sweetpea, Tio Jr.; and grandparents: Roberto, Magreta, Joyce, and Edward.
