Sheldon Bowker, 44, of Swiftbird, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022 at his home. Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg was in charge of arrangements.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Church of God in LaPlant with Pastor Jason Dillard presiding. Burial was in the Congregational Cemetery at LaPlant.
Sheldon Ray Bowker was born to Emery Different Horse and Jerrilyn Bowker on December 11, 1977 at the I.H.S Hospital in Eagle Butte. He joined one sister, Wynelle Bowker.
Sheldon attended the Swiftbird Day School and graduated from 8th grade. He enjoyed hanging out with his cousins and friends, playing basketball and horseshoes, and going fishing. He was a kind and friendly person, and if anyone needed help, he would always be there. Sheldon worked many labor jobs throughout his life. Credited for raising him were his grandparents, Dorothy and Jonas Bowker Jr.
Sheldon is survived by his father, Emery Different Horse, and his sister, Wynelle Bowker.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Dorothy Bowker and Jonas Bowker Jr.; mother Jerrilyn Bowker; aunts Orally Bowker and Tamera Bowker; uncles Stanford Fire Cloud Sr. and Marvin LeCompte; nephew Isaiah Iron Wing; cousins Shawn Brown, Royce Bowker, Eric Scott, Roxanne Iron Wing, Colt LeCompte, and Dion Rosas; and special friend Donna Scott.
