“Whatever happened in the regular season seems to not matter in the playoffs.” The Timber Lake Lady Panthers learned the truth behind former baseball player Carl Crawford’s words last Thursday, Feb. 17, in the first round of the Region 8B Girls Basketball Tournament.

Region 8B boys BB tournament

The 2022 Region 8B Boys Basketball Tournament tipped-off Monday, Feb. 28, with a pair of playin games and the first-round was underway on Tuesday as this issue of the Topic went to press.

Faith, Bison girls advance to SoDak 16

The Faith Lady Longhorns find themselves back representing Region 8B in the SoDak 16 this week along with surprise qualifiers - the Bison Lady Cardinals - who had to play-in to earn the seventh seed in regionals and pulled off two huge upsets over the second and third-seeded teams to advance.

Clayton Brownotter and Charles Taken Alive combined for 71 points in the McIntosh boys basketball regularseason finale against Solen, ND, on Friday, Feb. 18, but it wasn’t enough for the Tigers to top the Sioux in a 98-83 shootout.

Eulayla Maynard and Tripp Schrempp of the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Dupree wrestling team competed at the State Class A Wrestling Championships in Sioux Falls last weekend, with Maynard winning one of three matches in the girls division.
