Panther JV, C-team win squeakers in Faith

The Timber Lake boys JV and C-team both pulled out two-point victories over Faith last Thursday, Jan. 6, in what was a night filled with close finishes. The Panther JV claimed a 35-33 victory over the Longhorns and the C-team snagged a 34-32 overtime win to open the boys basketball trifecta.

Weather hampers wrestlers’ start to new year

The McLaughlin-Timber Lake wrestling coop got off to a bumpy start to 2022 after school cancellations due to inclement weather resulted in subsequent practice cancellations, so no McLaughlin wrestlers were eligible to compete at the Hettinger (ND) Wrestling Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Jan.

#5 Panthers edge Lyman for fifth straight victory

The Timber Lake Panthers trailed by two points heading into the fourth quarter against Lyman last Tuesday, Dec. 28, but outscored the Raiders 23-17 in the final stanza to earn a 71-67 victory. Bothered at times by Lyman’s full court press and size inside, TLHS prevailed and is 5-0 on the season.

James Valley Christian jumped out to an early lead and poured in 32 points in the third quarter to run away from the McIntosh Tigers 90-56 at the Huron Holiday Classic last Thursday, Dec. 30. The 3-3 Tigers hosted Herreid-Selby on Tuesday, Jan. 4, and will travel to Harding County on Thursday, Jan.
