#5 Panthers edge Lyman for fifth straight victory

The Timber Lake Panthers trailed by two points heading into the fourth quarter against Lyman last Tuesday, Dec. 28, but outscored the Raiders 23-17 in the final stanza to earn a 71-67 victory. Bothered at times by Lyman’s full court press and size inside, TLHS prevailed and is 5-0 on the season.

JVC upends McIntosh boys at Huron Holiday Classic

James Valley Christian jumped out to an early lead and poured in 32 points in the third quarter to run away from the McIntosh Tigers 90-56 at the Huron Holiday Classic last Thursday, Dec. 30. The 3-3 Tigers hosted Herreid-Selby on Tuesday, Jan. 4, and will travel to Harding County on Thursday, Jan.

Timber Lake girls upset by Lyman in OT

Unable to contain Lyman sophomore Skyler Volmer and with their top two scorers on the bench after fouling out late in the game, the Timber Lake Lady Panthers dropped a 69-66 overtime decision to the previously-winless Lady Raiders on Tuesday, Dec. 28.

Lady Panthers bounce back

Any seasoned basketball fan will tell you that losing a game early in the season is no big deal, just as long as you go out and win the next one. So when the Timber Lake Lady Panthers dropped a 58-47 decision to Herreid-Selby last Tuesday, Dec.

Timber Lake boys unbeaten heading into break

Legendary Indiana University coach Bobby Knight said, “Good basketball starts with good defense.” Timber Lake Panthers coach Cody Lawrence couldn’t agree more, so at the start of the 2021-22 season, he challenged his players to hold their opponents under 45 points in every game.

Mustang matmen 4th at LNI

Bolstered by two individual champions each, the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Dupree Braves and the McLaughlin/Timber Lake Mustangs finished second and fourth, respectively, in the team standings at the Lakota Nations Invitational wrestling tournament in Rapid City last week.
