TL native Ryan Deal named 2024 Sportswriter of the Year

Timber Lake native Ryan Deal has been named the South Dakota Sportswriter of the Year for 2024.The announcement was made last Tuesday, Jan. 7. This marks the fifth time Deal has been selected for award, also receiving it from 2017-19 and in 2022.Deal is a sports editor at 605sports.

Mni Waste water project on hold due to budget shortfall

The extension of the Mni Waste water line to Timber Lake is postponed. That was the news from Mni Waste Water Manager Leo “Earp” Fischer to the Timber Lake City board last week.Fischer spoke to the board via telephone at its regular meeting on January 8.

Lady Panthers knock off Ipswich to improve to 2-3 on the season

The Timber Lake Lady Panthers fell to a second half rally by North Central in a 41-37 loss last Thursday and bounced back by bumping Ipswich 49-46 Saturday night to move to 2-3 overall on the season.Timber Lake hosted Faith on Tuesday, Jan. 7, and will welcome Potter County on Friday, Jan. 10.

Berndt leads TL wrestlers with 10th at Harding Co. Invite

Levi Berndt scored a fourth place finish in the 165-pound class at the Harding County Wrestling Invitational on Dec. 30 to lead four Timber Lake wrestlers in the 15-team field.

Panthers light up No. Central, Ipswich

The Timber Lake Panthers found their groove and pocketed a pair of big wins last week, utilizing hot shooting and tight defense to beat North Central by 23 points and down Ipswich by 14, upping their season mark to 3-2 overall.But the Ipswich win came with a heavy toll.
