Timber Lake spikers tip off season with loss to Harding Co.

The Timber Lake Panthers opened the 2024 volleyball season on Saturday, Aug. 31, by dropping a three-game match at Harding County. The Ranchers won by scores of 25-20, 25-23 and 25-16 for the sweep.The Panthers hosted Cheyenne-Eagle Butte in their home opener on Tuesday, Sept.

Eagle Butte champions qualify for INFR

Three local competitors will be moving on to the national finals after being among the champions crowned at the 2024 Eagle Butte INFR Tour Rodeo in Eagle Butte on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 1-2, that was part of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe’s annual rodeo, pow wow and fair weekend.

Glenham barrel racer Summer Kosel just completed a very successful run in the northwest with rodeo stops in Idaho and Washington state, adding to her season earnings.Kosel clocked in at 16.

Dupree XC team opens season at Pierre Invitational

The Dupree Tiger cross country team posted five top 10 finishes across the middle school, jv and varsity ranks last Friday, Aug. 20, at the Pierre Invitational. No team scores or individual times had been posted when this edition of the Topic went to press.

Dupree gridders drop season opener 24-12

The Dupree Tigers fell behind early and never fully recovered, dropping a 24-12 decision to the Lyman Raiders in the 2024 gridiron season opener for both teams last Friday, Aug. 23.The Tigers will square off against North Central in Eureka at 2 p.m. CT on Friday, Aug. 30.
