Kraft, Packers eliminated from playoff race

The hope of reaching the Super Bowl came to an end for Timber Lake native Tucker Kraft and the underdog Green Bay Packers on Saturday as they fell 24-21 on a last-minute touchdown to the San Francisco 49ers.

Panthers top Chargers on buzzer-beater

Tristan Dupris dropped a career-high 31 points and Gracen Hansen drained a 27-footer to beat the final buzzer and give the Timber Lake Panthers a stunning 66-65 win over Sully Buttes last Tuesday, Jan. 16. Timber Lake, 5-4 overall, was at Kadoka Area on Tuesday, Jan.

TL girls to face Faith in 2024 consolation final

The Timber Lake Lady Panthers knocked off Tiospaye Topa in the first round of the Little Moreau Conference Girls Basketball Tournament last Friday, Jan. 19, and lost to Harding County in second round play the next night.

Participation in this year’s Lake Isabel Fishing Contest was up compared to previous years as the recent subzero cold streak snapped on Sunday, bringing high temperatures in the low 20s for competitors to contend with. While the weather cooperated, participants said the fish did not, as very few lunkers were landed during the event.

Big turnout for 10th annual Lake Isabel Fishing Contest

Organizers pushed the 10th annual Lake Isabel Ice Fishing Contest back a day - from Saturday, Jan. 20 to Sunday, Jan. 21 - due to extremely cold conditions and it paid off as the daytime highs reached into the lower 20s and the sun shined on the largest group of contestants entered in recent years.

Lady Panthers drop decision to Sully Buttes

The Sully Buttes Chargers used a 30-12 first half scoring advantage to get past the Timber Lake Lady Panthers 58-34 in girls hoops action last Tuesday, Jan. 16. The loss dropped Timber Lake to 3-7 overall while the Chargers improved to 5-6.

Mustangs compete in Mo-Po Round Robin

What started out as a six-team round-robin tournament turned into a three-team event last Tuesday, Jan. 16, when three teams bowed out due to hazardous travel conditions caused by severe cold weather.

Twelve different players scored for Timber Lake and the Panthers improved to 4-4 on the season by steamrolling the Tiospaye Topa Thunderhawks 83-26 in boys basketball action last Tuesday, Jan. 11. Then Mother Nature got involved.
