Ward, Lawrence claim titles at INFR qualifier

Two contestants from White Horse and another from Eagle Butte punched their ticket to Indian National Finals Rodeo (INFR) on July 3-4 by capturing titles in their respective events at the “Home of the Champions” INFR Qualifier Rodeo held in Twin Buttes, ND, July 3-4.

Hunt leads local competitors at INFR event in Montana

Six different competitors from Dewey and Ziebach counties and points nearby finished in the money at the Northern Cheyenne Chiefs 4th of July Rodeo held July 1-2 in Lame Deer, MT. Top finisher of the group was Kanton Hunt of Ridgeview, who won the Jr. Breakaway crown with a 2.

A six-inch rainfall Friday night made for a soupy arena at the Dupree Rodeo Grounds on Saturday and Sunday, June 24-25, for the 62nd annual Dupree Pioneer Days Rodeo ... and that led to some exciting action in the mud.

Dupree saddle bronc rider Shorty Garrett, currently ranked 18th in the PRCA world bull riding standings, turned in a strong performance in New Town, ND, last weekend to pocket nearly $4,000 in prize money. Garrett won second place with an 86.

Large area contingent competing in State High School Finals Rodeo

More than a dozen area competitors have qualified for the South Dakota State High School Finals Rodeo which kicked off Tuesday, June 13, and concludes Sunday, June 18, at the Stanley County Fairgrounds in Ft. Pierre. Leading the way are Mark Sandquist of Trail City and Minda Woodward of Dupree.

Teens make final bid for State HS Finals qualification

The second of two Northwest Regional Rodeo was held Friday through Sunday, June 9-11, at the Dupree Rodeo Grounds with competitors from across the region trying to advance to the State High School Finals Rodeo, which is underway this week in Ft. Pierre.
