Rylin Rousseau, a member of the Dupree High School graduating class of 2023, has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, ND. While there, she will be working toward a degree in nursing.

HS track season winding down; rodeo season underway

High school athletics are beginning to wind down with state tournaments coming into sight. The SDHSAA Region 8B track meet is set Thursday, May 18, at Doug Kraft Field in Timber Lake with the regional varsity golf meet on tap for Monday, May 22, at the Hart Ranch Golf Club near Rapid City.

Carlie Lawrence, daughter of Cody and Mary Lawrence of Timber Lake, recently signed a national letter of intent to attend Bismarck State College in Bismarck, ND, where she will be a member of the Mystics women’s basketball team.

This season’s Dupree High School boys 4x800 relay team broke a school record that had been in place since 1973 while competing at the Capital City Qualifier in Pierre last week. The squad of, l-r, Spencer Olsen, JW Pederson, TayShaun Cudmore and Jayden Marshall completed the relay in 9:03.

4-H Shooting Sports

Dewey County Wildcat Deadeye Shooting Sports wrapped up the 2023 season at the State 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament April 28-30 in Ft. Pierre. Participants have been practicing Archery, BB and Air Rifle at the Isabel Community Center since early January.
McIntosh freshman Wyatt Larson won his third consecutive Little Moreau Conference golf championship last Friday, May 5, by shooting a 2-overpar 74 at the Lemmon Country Club. He is the son of Anne and Nate Larson of Mahto. Brothers Hayden and Hadley Thompson finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the individual competition and Timber Lake finished second overall as a team.

Larson captures third straight LMC golf title

Lemmon and Philip shared team honors at the Little Moreau Conference Golf Tournament in Lemmon last Friday, May 5, but it was Wyatt Larson’s day as the McIntosh freshman fired a 2-over-par 74 to capture his third consecutive LMC championship.

Summer Kosel of Glenham left the Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo in Oklahoma with a little more jingle in her saddle bag after winning one round and the average in barrel racing last week. Kosel stopped at the Clovis Rodeo in Clovis, CA,April 27-30, where she clocked a 16.
