Frustrated by a two-game losing skid on the road, the Timber Lake Panthers vented by overhauling the Bison Cardinals 63-35 in Little Moreau Conference boys basketball action Monday, Jan. 16, on the Panthers home court.

The line-up for the South Dakota High School Rodeo Association’s (SDHSRA) 20X Rodeo slated Jan. 29 in Rapid City will showcase the top high school talent in the state, including several from Dewey and Corson counties and the surrounding area.

The Timber Lake Panthers dropped a pair of double-digit road losses last week, including a 67-51 decision to Florence-Henry in the Redfield Pheasant Shoot-Out on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Timber Lake boys cruise past McIntosh

Led by play-making junior guards Tristan Dupris and Elijah Brewer, the Timber Lake Panthers cruised past winless McIntosh 67-23 in Little Moreau Conference boys basketball action Monday, Jan. 9, to improve to 4-1 on the season. The Panthers travel to 5-2 Tiospaye Topa on Thursday, Jan.

TL native wins SD Sportswriter of the Year award

Timber Lake native Ryan Deal, a reporter for 605 Sports, has been named South Dakota Sportswriter of the Year for 2022. His selection was announced Monday, Jan. 9, by the National Sports Media Association. Deal is now a four-time recipient of the award, also winning it from 2017-2019.

Lawrence, Lady Panthers bomb Faith in LMC girls hoops action

Senior guard Carlie Lawrence rained 3-pointers on the Lady Longhorns, dropping five shots from behind the arc to finish with a season-high 28 points as Timber Lake used a 15-9 scoring run in the final quarter to seal a 60-54 Little Moreau Conference victory over Faith last Tuesday, Jan. 3.
