McLaughlin boys fifth at Lakota Nation Invite

Freshman Jayden Taken Alive of McLaughlin, one of the premier young runners in the region, posted a time of 17:29.68 to finish eighth overall at the Lakota Nation Cross Country Invitational in Rapid City on Saturday, Oct. 1. The Mustangs finished fifth in the team standings with 119 points.

Panthers survive for ‘ugly’ overtime win

A game marred by seven turnovers and 19 penalty calls came down to Timber Lake stopping Stanley County on a three-yard twopoint conversion last Friday, Sept.

Youth Football Jamboree set Oct. 8

Timber Lake will host a youth football jamboree at Doug Kraft Field on Saturday, Oct. 8. This is the first football jamboree held in Timber Lake in several years. Eligible players must be in third, fourth or fifth grade. Several area schools have confirmed they will have teams competing.

Area competitors qualify for 2022 INFR

The last chance to qualify for the 2022 Indian National Finals Rodeo will be next weekend, Oct. 14-15, in Las Vegas. The finals will be held Oct. 18-22 at the South Point Equestrian Center in Las Vegas.

Illness limits Panther roster at Lakeside XC Invitational

The Timber Lake Panthers ran a smaller team at the Lakeside Invitational in Faulkton last Wednesday, Sept. 21, resulting in a 12th place finish for the varsity boys squad. Miller scored 17 points to win the boys varsity title while Potter County put up 14 to claim the girls’ side.

JV runners shine at Battle on the Border

First-year runner Tatelyn Stanley turned in a strong performance to claim third place in the girls’ JV race at the Battle on the Border Cross Country Meet in Lemmon on Monday, Sept. 26, while eighth grader Xavier “X” Sanchez captured fourth place honors in the boys’ JV event.
