Report: S.D. one of five states without state-funded preschool

South Dakota is one of five states without state-funded preschool, according to a national report.The Mount Rushmore State is joined by Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and New Hampshire. The number of states without state-funded preschool has dropped from 10 as recently as 2012.

Joseph Lafferty sentenced for threatening federal official

United States Attorney Ron Parsons announced last Monday, April 20, that a 68-year-old Eagle Butte man has been convicted of threatening a federal official.Joseph Lafferty was sentenced to four years of probation and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

SDHSAA members to vote on constitutional amendments

High schools belonging to the South Dakota High School Activities Association will have a chance to vote on three proposed amendments to the association’s constitution. Sending the amendments to schools for their vote was approved at the association’s annual meeting on Wednesday, April 22.
