The birth of a rare White Buffalo Calf on June 4 in Yellowstone National Park is believed to fulfill a prophecy for the Lakota people that signals something momentous or calamitous is likely to happen and warns more must be done to protect the earth and its animals.

Four Urban Community Scholarships awarded

Four students are being awarded $3000 Community Scholarships from the Timber Lake and Area Historical Society’s Bob Urban Scholarship program. Cynthia Hoyt, Kari Long Leibel, Kedrick Martin, and Bergen Marshall will receive the scholarships to continue their postsecondary education.

Dupree School Reunion held June 22 at Dupree

The Dupree Alumni Association had a good crowd for their annual Dupree School Reunion program. Maurice Lemke was the emcee and he opened a moment of silence for the deceased alumni and followed that with some trivia about DHS.

Road projects begin this week

Crews began chip seal and fog seal projects on portions of several area highways. Weather dependent, the contractor will move from one project to the next in the following scheduled order: - SD Highway 20: Begins at US Highway 85 intersection south of Buffalo and runs east for 12 miles.
