The community of Isabel’s skyline will look much different in the next few weeks following the removal of the two tallest structures in town - the grain elevators - from the south side. Neither of the more than a century old elevators, owned by CHS River Plains, have been used since 2010.

The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe will conduct a special Primary Election on Tuesday, July 30, to fill the unexpired District 6 Tribal Council term of Ronald Rousseau, who was removed from office in late March after being convicted in tribal court of elder abuse.

Marshall Totton knows first-hand just how frustrating it can be for veterans trying to wade through the policies and paperwork involved when dealing with the Veterans Administration. His own experience is what prompted him to apply for the open Dewey County Veteran Service Officer (VSO) position.

Petitions filed

Two more candidates, both Independents, have filed petitions for Dewey County offices. Vincent T. DuPris of Eagle Butte filed for the District 4 commission seat. Incumbent Bob Berndt, a Democrat, had previously filed.
