FSA Program Deadlines Sept. 1, 2023: NAP application closing date for fall and spring seeded Canola and all Value Loss Crops. Sept. 30, 2023: NAP application closing date for all perennial forage, fall and spring seeded garlic, rye, speltz, triticale, wheat, and mixed forage crops.

Nobody puts on a parade like the town of Isabel and last Saturday’s Isabel Celebration parade proved it as hundreds braved cooler temps and rainy drizzle to take in the entries. Above, both young and old lined the parade route to pick up some of the goodies being thrown from entries.

Isabel Celebration & Rodeo

Rain and overcast skies were not enough to dampen the spirits in Isabel last weekend as residents and visitors gathered for the annual community celebration and rodeo. Top, Isabel Parade Grand Marshal Bonnie Boysen was chauffeured by her son Kyle.

Sparky’s Bar & Grille in Isabel listed for sale

A longtime Isabel bar and cafe has been put up for sale. Sparky’s Bar & Grille, currently owned by Wade and Jolene Maher, was listed Monday morning by the Battle Creek Agency in Hermosa, owned by John Kerstiens.

Area schools preparing to welcome back students

School bells will beckon area students to the classrooms in the next couple weeks - ready or not. At Timber Lake, staff will have professional development days on August 16 and 17. Classes will begin on August 22. (PreK Class B will begin on August 22 and PreK Class A will start on August 23.
