First of three Isabel gun shop burglars slated for sentencing

The first of three men charged in connection with the August 2022 theft of more than 100 firearms from an Isabel gun shop will be sentenced Tuesday, Oct. 10, in U.S. District Court in Pierre.

U.S. DISTRICT COURT

June 15, 2023 Sylvan Larrabee, 31, of Pierre, convicted of failure to register as a sex offender, was sentenced on June 12, 2023 to 17 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100.00 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

FOURTH CIRCUIT COURT

Corson County, McIntosh July 17 Shannon Bonds, 51, of Duncan, OK, speeding. Fine and costs $137.50 Daryl Campbell, 77, of Huron, driving to left on approach to intersection. Fine and costs $132.50 July 19 Jessica Holcomb, 41, of Rapid City, speeding. Fine and costs $177.

CRST Game, Fish & Parks offering Hunter Safety Course in Eagle Butte

The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Game, Fish & Parks will conduct a Hunter Safety Course on Saturday, Aug. 12 and Aug. 26, from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. in Eagle Butte. The classes will be held in the CRST Game, Fish & Parks conference room.

TheTimber Lake & Area Historical Society will award another round of Community Scholarships this summer. The scholarship program was established in 1988 by the late Bob Urban, a 1934 graduate of Timber Lake High School.

Cordewzey Clean-up

The Cordewzey 4-H Club helped clean up the green space north of the pavilion and the old school basketball court as part of an agreement with the City of Isabel in exchange for monthly meeting space in the Community Center.

Fire Dept. Appreciation Picnic to kick off Isabel celebration

The Isabel Fire Department will kick off the 2023 Isabel Celebration and Rodeo on Thursday, Aug. 3, with an appreciation picnic at the Fire Hall on Main Street beginning at 5 p.m.

Bernie and Bonnie Boysen to Grand Marshal Parade

Firesteel residents Bernie and Bonnie Boysen have been selected to serve as Grand Marshals of the 2023 Isabel celebration parade. The parade - with the theme “Lawless in Isabel” - gets underway on Main Street at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5.
