Auction raises $2445 for Dewey Co. 4-H

The Dewey County 4-H Leaders raised $2445 with an auction at the Days of 1910 Tent on July 27. Mobridge Livestock bought the hog and processing donated by Broken Heart Ranch and Gill Red Angus for $1500, and seven plates of cookies from the cookie contest brought a total of $945.

When Joslyn Goldade tried to make a call from the “old fashioned” phone booth at the Timber Lake Museum, she got no answer. No dial tone either. The booth is a popular stop for kids visiting the museum.

Sobriety checkpoints set for month of August

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety has announced plans for 12 sobriety checkpoints in 10 different counties during the month of August. Checkpoints are scheduled for the counties of: Lincoln, Jerauld, Lyman, Hamlin, Brown, Moody, Minnehaha, Yankton, Pennington, and Meade.

Condolences to the family of Belinda (Voegele) Holzer, who recently passed away. Carissa Aberle brought over Amaya Aberle on Friday to Chuck and Marsha Aberle’s. Amaya stayed until late Monday afternoon.

Timber Lake Topic August 15, 1963 No champion in city golf tourney The city golf tournament was held Sunday, Aug. 11, at the Little Moreau Country Club, without a winner. Donald Singer and Harry Hodgman tied with scores of 74. It will be played off in the near future.
