Nick Rios of the company, Exo, bores into a telephone pole beneath the surface to test its integrity. Once tested, the hole is filled with a rubber plug to keep moisture out. Exo is in the area inspecting poles around Dupree, Isabel and Timber Lake for the Moreau-Grand Electric Cooperative.

Officer-involved shooting remains under investigation by federal agencies

A June 20 incident during which a Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) police officer shot and wounded a suspect in Corson County on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation is being investigated by both the BIA's Office of Justice Services Internal Division and the FBI.

CRST road safety projects awarded DOT grant funds

The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe (CRST) has been awarded nearly $300,000 to assist with three road safety improvement projects from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration. The grants are part of $20.

SHERIFF’S REPORT

Corson County Sheriff Alan Dale July 3 1:26 a.m. responded to a vehicle vs. deer accident on Highway 65, by the Grand River. 8:17 a.m. responded to 277th Avenue and 130th Street for a report of two vehicles that drove down a county road that was closed.

Olivia Dosch replaces Cindy

Olivia Dosch has been appointed Ziebach County Auditor, replacing Cindy Longbrake, who has retired. Her appointment is until March, 2025. The position is up for election in 2024. The new auditor is a 2016 graduate of Dupree High School and a 2018 graduate of Rhema Bible College.

Descendants of brothers Frederic Dupris and Peter Dupree will gather on Cheyenne River

This Dupris/Dupree gathering is unique because it will be the first time the descendants of Frederic Dupris will get together with the descendants of Peter Dupree from the Fort Peck Reservation in Montana on Cheyenne River.
