Piece of Main Street history demolished

A building that stood on the west side of Timber Lake’s Main Street for more than a hundred years was torn down last week. The Schlosser Ditching and Plumbing building on Block 10, Lot 6 was originally the home of the First State Bank. Sometime in the 1950s the building was owned by D.G.

County seat bill, SB56, passes House, Senate

An amended version of Senate Bill 56, sponsored in the S.D. Legislature by District 28 Senator Ryan Maher (R-Isabel), has passed both the House and Senate and has been sent to the Governor for signature. The bill changes the requirements for relocation of a county seat.

School district accepts $1 million quote to replace roof

The Timber Lake School Board continues to deal with the aftermath of a July 5, 2022 hailstorm that caused millions in damage, voting last week to accept a quote for the total replacement of the K-12 school roof as well as a quote for damage to floors in both gymnasiums.

The deadline for candidate petitions to be filed for the Timber Lake and Isabel city boards is Friday, February 24 at 5 p.m. At Isabel, incumbents Ryan Maher and Dan Gifford have filed petitions for the two vacancies, and Clint Doan has a petition out.
