The Timber Lake School Board has one vacancy to be filled this year; the seat is presently held by Tyrone Kraft. Other board members are Jake Kraft, Joe Locken, Bryce Lindskov and Brandon Heck. See filing details in the vacancy notice on page 14.

2023 IRM Redbook available to cattle producers at Dewey County Extension office

The Dewey County 4-H/ Extension is again providing area cattle producers an opportunity to purchase the IRM Redbook calving tool.

Sacrison reports on animal control numbers

Finn Sacrison of Keldron, the S.D. Game, Fish and Parks Department’s animal control officer for Dewey and Corson counties, introduced himself Finn Sacrison, State Trapper for Dewey and Corson counties and presented a short annual report at the Dewey County Commission meeting on February 2.

December 13, 2022 Joseph Bowker, 31, of Dupree was sentenced to two years and five months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Teacher shortage worsens in South Dakota

Concern over the future of the teaching profession in South Dakota has led to efforts by education officials to train and inspire a new generation of classroom leaders, with particular emphasis on elementary school classrooms.

Timber Lake Middle School Lip Sync Contest

The first round of the annual Timber Lake Middle School Lip Sync Contest was held January 25-27, and the final performance was on January 31. Music teacher Colette Schaffer coordinated the competition, and three judges selected the winners.
