Timber Lake students participate in American Legion Auxiliary contests

Local winners of the essay, poem, and poppy poster contests sponsored by the Timber Lake and Isabel American Legion Auxiliary Units were announced in the Topic last week (May 19, 2022, page 16A). Winning entries were submitted to the district contest, where the following students won.

Memorial Day

Monday, May 30 is Memorial Day. Government offices and some businesses will be closed. The American Legion and Auxiliary Units will have Memorial Day programs that day. Guest speakers will be Jason and Kay Booth at Timber Lake and Jack Bickel at Isabel (See details inside).

Chuck Le Compte has been in law enforcement for 27 years most of them with the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Police Department, where he was Chief of Police for 7 years. LeCompte attended Stephan Mission Boarding School, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School, and Hanson Automotive School in Fargo, ND.

On May 6, Timber Lake seniors Michaela Alley (LEFT) and Cassie Harris (RIGHT) signed letters of intent to enroll in teacher education programs at their chosen colleges. The brief ceremony was hosted by the TLHS Chapter of Educators Rising, which promotes education as a career choice.
