Winners of the Timber Lake School Spelling Contest will advance to the Northwest Area Schools Spelling Contest in McIntosh on March 23.

5th Grade enjoyed several activities from our “Coffee Bean” week. We celebrated 2/22/22 at home with a snow day, but we celebrated the day with a “Let’s Glow” party the next day. The week continued with several activities. The students in my class wrote about their favorite parts of the week.

Area cowboys compete in Houston

Several area cowboys are competing in RodeoHouston, the largest livestock show in the world with rodeo action and music concerts every night from Feb. 28-March 19 in Houston, TX. Each night, only eight competitors or teams are invited to participate.

Big Dakota All-Conference teams selected

The Big Dakota Conference has announced its 2021-22 selections for All-Conference and honorable mention honors. Leading the selections to the girls team is Shawnee Lawrence, a 5-11 senior from Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, along with Mariah Goehring and Landyn Henderson, both of Mobridge-Pollock.

Dupree Prom is Saturday

After two years of quarantines and face masks and no fun, the Junior Class at Dupree High School will host the 2022 prom on Saturday, March 19. The juniors chose “Out of This World” as their prom theme.
Members of the Gene Gelino American Legion Post were presented with a birthday cake last Tuesday to mark the post’s birthday. The cake, decorated in red, white, and blue, was baked by the Past Presidents of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed by the veterans at their meeting. In Trail City, the weather is finally starting to get nicer for calving season as that is underway for many people around the area. Bill, Lynn, and Lyle Hahne attended Frank Hahne’s 40th birthday party. There were about 25 friends and family attending. It was located at Frank’s house.

Timber Rose Kocmich was born to Brad and Caley Kocmich of Mitchell on December 18, 2021. She weighed 3 lbs., 14 oz and was 16 inches long. She joins a sister, Tilly Bry Al. Maternal grandparents are Coffy and Nancy Enright of Timber Lake.
