Firemen respond to 11 fires Monday night

A thunderstorm that rolled through the region Monday evening created a busy night for fire crews across the area as lightning strikes ignited 11 different grass fires in the Isabel and Dupree areas.

S.D. Women on the Range kickoff set for September 9

South Dakota State University (SDSU) Extension has unveiled a new ranching program for females — South Dakota Women on the Range (SDWR) — and will host a kickoff event Sept. 9 near Belle Fourche. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. MT at the St. Onge Hall (198 First St. in St. Onge).

Hwy 73 bridge near Thunder Hawk to be dedicated to Lyman brothers

The South Dakota Dept. of Veterans Affairs will host a state bridge dedication ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 11, to honor Air Force Combat Veteran 1LT Herbert Lyman and Army Combat Veteran Tech Sergeant James Lyman. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m.

Trail City Fire Dept. banks $37,000 from fund raiser event

Food, entertainment, live and silent auctions, and donations brought in $37,000 for equipment upgrades for the Trail City Fire Dept. at a fund raiser on August 28. Casey Perman, John Hoven and Levi Goldade were auctioneers, and many volunteers helped with the meal.

Eight Dewey County 4-Hers had livetock projects this year and showed their animals and their showmanship at the Corson County Fair in McIntosh.

Contestants, sponsors, volunteers produce Corson County Fair

The 2021 Corson County Fair, August 13-15, was a hot one but it didn’t keep fairgoers from having a great time. The fair kicked off Friday with the small animal show and static exhibit judging. The newly renamed Corson County Youth Rodeo had a great turn out on its new Friday time.
