West Nile Virus case confirmed in Walworth County

The South Dakota Dept. of Health has confirmed that a 60-yearold male from Walworth County is the state’s first human West Nile Virus case of 2021. State Epidemiologist Dr.

Ziebach County 4-H Achievement Day invites open class exhibitors

Everyone is invited to share some of their hobbies and interests at the annual Ziebach County 4-H Achievement Day, which will be held on August 5 at Pioneer Hall. Those students enrolled in 4-H will be showing projects and the community is also welcome to enter exhibits in the open class.

Isabel Rodeo

The Isabel Rodeo, a West River tradition, will feature performances at 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 7-8 and honor Brent and Nancy Thiel. The weekend will kick-off on Friday, Aug. 6, with a calcutta, ranch rodeo and mutton bustin’ beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Dewey Co. Fair

The Dewey County Fair and 4-H Achievement Day is Thursday, July 29. Entry of exhibits begins at 9 a.m., and the auction of pies and cookies will begin at noon, following by an ice cream social. (More details are on page 7 of last week’s Topic.)
