NAEC releases statements regarding bullying

Prior to the Timber Lake School Board’s passage of an updated harassment/bullying policy at its July 14 meeting (see story below), the school’s Native American Education Committee (NAEC) expressed their support for the changes made to the policy.

Jake Kraft was elected president of the Timber Lake Board of Education for the 2021-22 school year during the board meeting last Wednesday, July 14, succeeding Marie Gross, who did not run for re-election and was replaced by Joe Locken. Bryce Lindskov will serve as vice-president.

The Isabel and Timber Lake fire departments responded to the “Derby Fire” shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 16 near the Carol Ducheneaux residence east of Timber Lake. The fire was contained to half an acre but did burn several old vehicles.

Let’s Feed the Fish, a children’s book, has been published in honor of the 125th anniversary of the D.C. Booth Fish Hatchery Spearfish. The 32-page hardcover book was co-authored by Kindra Gordon, Karen (Dahlgren) Holzer (formerly of Timber Lake), and Joanna Jones.

If you’re looking for the Dewey County Fair during Timber Lake’s Days of 1910 Celebration this week, you won’t find it. The fair has been moved to a new date, Thursday, July 29, placing it between the Timber Lake and Isabel celebrations.

Class of 1981 - reunion?

Although no details were available at press time, the Topic has heard some rumors of a reunion of the TLHS Class of 1981 for this weekend.
