Author Matthew Davis coming to Eagle Butte

The South Dakota Humanities Council will welcome author Matthew Davis for the 2026 One Book South Dakota tour featuring his book, A Biography of a Mountain: The Making and Meaning of Mount Rushmore.Davis will speak at the Lakota Cultural Center in Eagle Butte on Friday, June 26 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Rae Vines of Eagle Butte earned a place on the Dickinson (ND) State University President’s List for Spring 2026. To qualify for this recognition, students must complete at least 12 credit hours and achieve a GPA of 3.9 or higher.

McLaughlin man to serve five years

A 42-year-old McLaughlin man has been sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of abusive sexual contact for an incident in McLaughlin in 2024.
