Linda Olsen appointed to Board of Education Standards

Governor Kristi Noem has appointed educator Linda Olsen of Dupree, Huron School Superintendent Terry Nebelsick, and Belle Fourche School Superintendent Dr. Steve Willard to the South Dakota Board of Education Standards.

Panther Pride Art Festival

Katarina Boysen, a senior at Timber Lake High School, displayed her own artwork and that of other school and community artists at the Timber Lake Museum as her Capstone Senior Project.

Benefit set for April 11

The Holy Cross Altar Society is planning a benefit to help Missy Stover with medical expenses. Knoephla soup, chili, bread sticks and caramel rolls will be served beginning at 10:30 a.m. on April 11 at St. Joseph Center in Timber Lake. There will also be a silent auction.

Closed on Good Friday

Some local businesses will close at noon or all day on Good Friday, April 2. Dewey County will be closed all day on April 2. Western Dakota Bank and Moreau-Grand Electric will close at noon on Good Friday. Timber Lake School will be closed Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Setting up

It takes a team to build an art show and Katarina Boyen (RIGHT) had a good team on hand last week to set up the Panther Pride Art Festival exhibit at the Timber Lake Museum. The show, which is Kat’s Capstone Senior Project, ends March 26.

Vintage saddle

Someone will be the new owner of this vintage Days of 1910 Celebration saddle being raffled off by the Timber Lake Rodeo Association. The saddle, made by the late Billy Bob Dellis of Timber Lake in 1983, was won by the late Lloyd Kjellsen and was donated for a fund raiser by Pat Kjellsen (RIGHT).

Mackenzie Huber of SDSU Dean’s List

Mackenzie Huber, a 2016 graduate of Timber Lake High School, has been named to South Dakota State University in Brookings College of Nursing Fall Dean’s List. Mackenzie is the daughter of Mike and Corrine Huber of Timber Lake.

Area students named to BHSU Fall Dean’s List

Black Hills State University in Spearfish has released the names of area students on the Fall Dean’s List. Among the full-time students listed are three from Timber Lake: Kayden Hansen and Josie White (Elementary Education), and Jakways Mendoza (Physical Ed).
