Jerry Keller of Timber Lake was recently appointed as Dewey County Veterans Service Officer by the Dewey County Commission. The twoyear appointment was effective January 1. Keller will be in the VSO office at the Dewey County Courthouse in Timber Lake from 8 a.m.

The Timber Lake Fire Dept. responded to a pair of grass fires on Monday, Feb. 23, extinguishing small blazes at the Chuck Maher place northeast of Timber Lake and the Roy Veit place south of Glencross. No serious damage was reported.

DOT temporarily closes Singing Bridge west of Mobridge

The South Dakota Dept. of Transportation issued an emergency closure of the “Singing Bridge” near Mobridge on Saturday, Feb. 20, after structural distresses were reported. The bridge is located on Highway 1806 west of Mobridge and north of Highway 12 over the Grand River.

Gimbel, Stover receive school awards

Timber Lake School announced the Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year awards last week. The winners, nominated by school staff, students and community, were high school teacher and coach Ryan Gimbel and custodian Melissa Stover. Both received several nominations.
