For the first time since 1961 the McIntosh School has a Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter. Ag/science/math teacher Tia Baumberger Nehl (who previously taught in Timber Lake) serves as advisor. To be a member, students must be enrolled in an agricultural class.

On January 14 at 9:55 a.m., the Corson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a semi crash on US HWY 12 near mile marker 185. It was found a 31-year-old male from Long Prairie, MN was westbound in a 2005 Peterbilt semi pulling an empty livestock trailer.

Ziebach commissioners reorganize, set salaries for 2021

The Ziebach County Commission began the year with a January 5 meeting at which time the board reorganized and handled other new and ongoing business. REORGANIZATION: Clinton Farlee was elected to serve as Chairman for 2021 and Rick Farlee will serve as Vice-Chairman.

December 1, 2020 Juanita Red Bird, 26, of Eagle Butte, sentenced for maintaining a drug involved premises, was sentenced to a time served sentence of ten days in federal prison, three years of supervised release, and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100.

S.D. Retailers Assn. recognizes Faith, Eagle Butte businesses

Two West River business owners received awards from the S.D. Retailers Association recently. Dana Keffeler of Faith was named Retailer of the Year, and Lonnie Heier, who owns Dairy Queen restaurants at Eagle Butte and four other locations, received the Community Service Award.
